Consider what certainty would actually do to you. If you could see — plainly, verifiably — that consciousness continues, that love is the ground of being, that every kindness echoes in eternity, what would your kindness then be? Prudent. Obvious. A sensible investment no rational being would decline. It would be many things, but one thing it could never be again is faith.

Faith, in this teaching, is not believing improbable claims. It is the act of orienting your life toward love without proof — reaching into the dark and choosing as if the light were there. And that act is possible only because of the veil. Certainty and faith cannot occupy the same heart; where one enters, the other’s work is finished. The veil, by withholding proof of everything that matters most, is what keeps a space open in which faith can exist at all.

The material treats this faculty with the highest seriousness — as a muscle, perhaps the muscle this density is designed to train. Every time you act from love while genuinely unsure — comforting where you cannot know it helps, staying true where no one would catch the betrayal, trusting meaning on an evening when everything argues against it — something in you strengthens that no amount of certainty could ever have built.

So the wager of the veiled life comes into focus: the universe traded away your certainty and offered you, in exchange, the possibility of becoming someone who can leap. It considers this a magnificent bargain.

☕ Today’s Micro-Practice: Find one small act today you’d do “if it really mattered” — and do it precisely without knowing that it does. That gap between doing and knowing? That’s faith, in training.
