There was a time, the material tells us, before the veil — and it is one of the most quietly astonishing passages in the whole teaching.

In the early experience of our kind of existence, beings entered incarnation with full sight. They knew they were the Creator. They knew death was a doorway; they remembered their purpose and saw the mechanics of the cosmos plainly. Every question we ache over was, for them, simply answered. It sounds like paradise — and, in a way, it was.

And almost no one grew. Lifetimes passed, pleasant and shallow, like an eternal warm afternoon. With everything known, nothing was truly at stake. Choices carried no weight, because the outcome was visible in advance; love was easy, because unity was obvious; and so the great choice this density exists for was scarcely ever made with any depth. The experiment, the sources say frankly, was inefficient. The Creator was learning very little about itself.

So the design was changed — and the change was the veil. Draw a curtain across the deep mind. Let beings walk into life blind, mortal-feeling, unsure whether anything means anything at all. And see what they choose then. In the dark, every act of love suddenly cost something, and therefore meant something. Growth that had trickled began to pour.

You live on this side of that redesign. Your not-knowing is not the universe’s indifference. It is the feature that makes your smallest kindness real.

☕ Today’s Micro-Practice: Once today, let a moment of uncertainty stand without rushing to resolve it — and notice: whatever you choose here, you choose in the dark, which is exactly why it counts.
