Where does all this catalyst come from? Random chance? Divine whim? The material’s answer is stranger and more intimate: much of it comes from you.
Before this incarnation began — so the teaching goes — you were not veiled. You could see your long story plainly: the lessons learned, the lessons still waiting, the balances not yet struck. And from that wider vantage, with guidance from beings who love you, you helped design the life you are now living. The family you would be born into. The gifts that would open doors, and the limitations that would close the ones you’d otherwise hide behind. The great relationships, with their precise friction. You chose the curriculum — not every event, but the themes, the recurring lessons your soul most wanted to attempt this time.
This is not fatalism. A syllabus is not a script. Nothing about your responses is predetermined; the freedom you exercise today is total, and it is the whole point. But it does turn certain persistent features of your life around by ninety degrees. The limitation you resent may not be an accident that befell you. It may be the exact exercise you once, clear-eyed and unafraid, chose for yourself — the way an athlete chooses the heavier weight, not because lifting is pleasant, but because of who she becomes by lifting it.
Somewhere in what you call “my problem” may live the very thing you came for.
☕ Today’s Micro-Practice: Pick one long-standing limitation in your life. Just once today, try on the thought: “What if I chose this — what was I hoping to learn?” Hold it lightly, as an experiment, not a verdict.
