If the positive harvest asks for fifty-one percent, the negative harvest — graduation along the path of service to self — demands something far steeper: roughly ninety-five percent. To move forward as a being of pure self-service, you must become almost entirely oriented toward control of self and others, with barely a sliver of compassion remaining. This striking asymmetry tells us something important about how the universe is built.
It means the cosmos is, in a quiet sense, tilted toward love. The path of the open heart is the easy grade, requiring only a slight majority, because it runs with the grain of reality — all things truly are one, and serving others is simply acting in accordance with that truth. The path of separation runs against the grain. To graduate on it, you must achieve a near-total, ferociously disciplined denial of the unity that actually underlies everything. Very few manage it, and the material treats those who do not with cartoonish menace but with something closer to sober respect for the sheer effort wasted.
For us, walking the gentler road, this is enormously reassuring. You are not in a fair fight against equally matched darkness. You are leaning downhill toward home, while the other path strains uphill against the truth of things. Love is not just preferable here. It is easier.
