Yesterday’s idea has a name, and it is the name of this whole teaching: the Law of One. It is the single law from which everything else unfolds, and it is breathtakingly simple. There is only one of us here. Every person you have ever met, every star overhead, every blade of grass underfoot, every passing thought — all of it is the one Creator, wearing countless different masks and momentarily believing in each one.
This is not meant as poetry or as a comforting metaphor. In the material it is described as the literal architecture of reality. Separation is real as an experience — you genuinely feel like a self standing apart from other selves, and that feeling is no illusion to be ashamed of. But underneath the experience, there is no actual division anywhere to be found. The distance between you and another person is the distance between one wave and another on the same single ocean: real enough to surf, never deep enough to drown the unity beneath.
Why should this matter on an ordinary Wednesday? Because if all things are truly one, then the way you treat anything is, quietly and exactly, the way you treat yourself. The entire path, in the end, is little more than learning to act as though this were true — and it is true.
