The material does something most teachings refuse to do: it takes the other path seriously, without cartoonish horror. The second great road is service to self, sometimes called the negative path, or the way of magnetism. And here is the uncomfortable truth — it is a genuine spiritual path. It leads, eventually, back to the one Creator too. It is simply the longer, harder, lonelier way around.

The service-to-self being also recognizes the Creator — but locates it primarily in itself. Its discipline is real and often immense: the mastery of self, the gathering and control of power, the bending of others to serve its will. Where the positive path radiates, the negative path magnetizes, drawing energy and attention inward toward a single point. It is the path of the one who would rule rather than serve, and the material does not pretend such beings are merely foolish. Their focus can be ferocious.

Why look at this at all? For two reasons. First, honesty: you cannot consciously choose the open heart if you have never understood its alternative. Second, recognition: the seeds of the self-serving path live in all of us — in the small urge to control, to win, to be served. Seeing those seeds clearly, without shame, is how we choose the other path on purpose rather than by accident.

☕ Today’s Micro-Practice: Notice one moment today when you want to control an outcome or “win.” Just name it inwardly — “there is the urge to serve myself” — and let the noticing be the practice.
