Session Snapshot
Date: June 26, 1982
Setting: Louisville, KY; tuned trance channeling within a disciplined support circle
Cast: Don Elkins (Questioner) • Carla L. Rueckert (Instrument) • Jim McCarty (Scribe)
Big Themes: Three-layer mind map (cosmic/all-mind → archetypical mind → planetary/racial mind); a “mechanical” near-disruption (moved cover/microphone cords) explained via silver-cord reflex + elastic-band snap metaphor; how to think about planetary “origins” (bias-patterns > pigmentation); archetypes across Logoi (22 not universal; max = sevens + The Choice; minimum = two systems of five); and the first careful decoding of the Matrix of Mind—hand reaching outward toward what is locked, square as 3D illusion, checkering as polarity, wing-position as spirit-release, and repeated instruction to stop clinging to culturally-added objects.

Companions for deeper study: A Concept Guide (entries: Archetypical Mind, Deep Mind, Planetary Mind, Polarity), Archetypes Workshop Handout (slow, layered study method), Unified Index (lawofone.info).
Key Takeaways
Archetypes are a refinement, not “more than” mind. Ra corrects the “addition” idea: archetypical mind is a patterned refinement of all-mind, peculiar to a sub-Logos’s choices.
Planetary/racial mind = remembered bias. It’s a repository formed by lived, chosen experience under a planetary influence—distinct from deeper roots not shaped by “altering memory.”
Sometimes there is no philosophy—only reflex. A slight disturbance can trigger the “silver cord reflex,” snapping the absent enlivener back toward the body unless re-entry is gently eased.
“Race” is better read as interaction-bias. If you’re speculating about origins, Ra nudges you toward patterns of self-definition and other-self interaction, not skin pigmentation.
How to study Archetype One: keep the principle, loosen the prop. “Release the cup/sword/coin from its stricture” becomes considered a method for archetype work.
Adept value = undistortion. Archetypes are not the foundation of evolution, but a tool for grasping it without distortion—a blueprint of energy expenditure and seeking.

Notation: Each subsection lists the question number (e.g., 91.11), a brief Summary, and Commentary & Notes with direct links to LoO 91. Primary transcript: L/L Research Session 91; Cross-reference: LoO 91.
91.1 — Condition of the instrument
Summary. Condition is as previously stated.
Commentary & Notes. A familiar anchor: high metaphysics rides inside a human nervous system. Session 91 will later underline this with an almost “technical” illustration of how bodily disturbance can affect the linkage. → LoO 91.1
91.2–4 — Cosmic mind, “addition,” and archetypical refinement
Summary. Cosmic mind is shared for sub-Logoi; the sub-Logos refines/articulates it. Ra corrects “addition”: archetypical mind is not “more than” all-mind, but a refinement in a pattern peculiar to the sub-Logos.
Commentary & Notes. This is the clean mental model:
All-mind (cosmic) = deep ocean.
Archetypical mind = the Logos’s chosen architecture of intelligibility for experience.
Useful self-check: “Is this universal depth, Logos-pattern, or local bias?” → LoO 91.2–4
91.5–7 — Planetary/racial mind: origin, function, and a contact interruption
Summary. Archetypical mind does not create planetary/racial mind. Planetary/racial mind is a repository of remembered biases formed through lived experience under this planetary influence; each race contributes to planetary mind and also has a racial mind. During this discussion, contact becomes unclear due to movement of the cover touching the instrument; Ra requests repetition of opening sentences and breath expulsion; the Circle of One is walked and breath expelled right→left above the head.
Commentary & Notes. Two lessons land together:
Mind taxonomy: planetary/racial mind is a living archive of shared bias-patterns—still a “root of mind,” but sharply distinct from deeper roots not shaped by memory alteration.
Hygiene of contact: when a narrow-band working gets “noisy,” the group returns to basics—circle, breath, repeat. This is not drama; it’s disciplined care. → LoO 91.5–7
91.8 — Clear contact re-established
Summary. Yes; there was a misstep requiring repetition, then communication is clear again; Ra notes the humorous aspect.
Commentary & Notes. A small but important tonal clue: seriousness without grimness. Calm repetition restores stability. → LoO 91.8
91.9–11 — Microphone cords, silver-cord reflex, elastic-band snap
Summary. The moved cords jarred the link between mind/body/spirit complex and yellow-ray chemical body, affecting the lungs. If neglected, the “ultimate penalty” would be death by congestive heart failure; prompt support prevents significant distortion. Philosophically, Ra says: no philosophy—only reflex. When the body is disturbed while the complex is absent, the “silver cord reflex” calls back the enlivener; sudden re-entry is like an elastic band snapping; careful recall gently releases tension.
Commentary & Notes. This is one of the most practically clarifying passages in the late sessions: the metaphysical interface is mechanically fragile at times. The method is “soft handling”: re-entry as gentle easing, not sudden snapping. The wider takeaway applies beyond trance: after intense inner work, transition slowly—breath, grounding, hydration, posture. → LoO 91.9–11
91.12–13 — Planetary “origins”: bias-patterns > pigmentation; (3 major, 13 minor)
Summary. Some correctness to multi-planetary origins, but not all races/sub-races are of various planetary origins. Ra suggests looking at biases in interactions with other-selves and definitions of self rather than pigmentation. Ra gives numbers (harmless though unimportant): three major planetary influences besides Earth second-density derivation, and thirteen minor planetary groups.
Commentary & Notes. Ra gently redirects curiosity: “origin” is less useful as taxonomy and more useful as pattern recognition—how beings habitually define self and meet other-self. The numbers are given, but the emphasis is clearly on the ethical/psychological reading, not classification. → LoO 91.12–13
91.14–17 — Archetypes across Logoi: max, min, and “systems of five”
Summary. Not all Logoi have 22 archetypes. The most articulated system Ra knows in this octave is sevens + The Choice (22). The fewest are two systems of five, using different experimental emphases: one added Catalyst + Experience; another added Catalyst + Transformation, each trading off “process help” vs “fruit help.”
Commentary & Notes. Big reframing: 22 is not cosmic furniture—it’s an advanced articulation produced by many experiments. Also useful: different archetype architectures can prioritize either how experience is processed or what experience yields. → LoO 91.14–17
91.18–19 — Male principle; will as magical gesture; sphere as spiritual object
Summary. The male figure is male principle, not strictly biological; sexual biases in images teach polarity and attraction. Will pours forth from the image; “wand = will” is partly an astrological derivative of the out-reaching hand forming a magical gesture. The sphere indicates the spiritual nature of the object of will in magical acts.
Commentary & Notes. This is early training in “don’t literalize the costume.” The key is function: directed will reaching toward a spiritual object—magic as will aligned with spirit, not mere control. → LoO 91.18–19
91.20–23 — The hand is not inward; square = 3D illusion; checkering = polarity
Summary. Ra corrects: the hand does not reach within. Without potentiation the conscious mind has no inwardness; it reaches toward what is locked outside its unpotentiated influence. Square symbolizes third-density illusion (unmagical, or in proper configuration “material world given life”). The dark area as subconscious “darkness” is accepted; checkering represents polarity.
Commentary & Notes. The blunt teaching: the Matrix alone doesn’t “go inward.” Inwardness is relational—arrives through potentiation. The square/checkering combo is a compact symbol set: illusion + polarity as the arena of the conscious mind’s work. → LoO 91.20–23
91.24–26 — Wing-position matters; star as astrological overlay; cultural eye; guidelines not boundaries
Summary. Winged images are noted less for species than wing-position. Folded wing suggests spirit cannot fly unless released into conscious manifestation and fructified; the Magician cannot act without reaching its winged spirit. The star is best seen astrologically; Ra did not include astrological portions as archetypical leitmotifs. Many details are cultural; better to penetrate the heart of significance than cling to Egyptian costume; each student’s resonance differs; Ra prefers general guidelines rather than limiting definitions.
Commentary & Notes. This is the “study method” encoded: prioritize relationship and function, treat astrological/cultural overlays as secondary. And: allow personal resonance—archetypal work should stay alive, not pedantic. → LoO 91.24–26
91.27–32 — Cup/sword/coin: “release from stricture”; caged bird struggle; “waiting polarity” praised
Summary. Ra doesn’t hear the first cup question; on re-query: “Doubt not the polarity… release the cup from its stricture.” Original image used checkering for polarity. Don’s “waiting polarity to be tasted” is “exquisitely perceptive.” For sword and coin, Ra repeats the method: don’t doubt struggle or achievement—release the literal object; observe caged bird struggle; the Magus strives to achieve through the manifested world.
Commentary & Notes. This is one of the most transferable instructions in the whole archetype sequence:
Keep the principle. Loosen the prop.
It’s also a diagnostic: if your interpretation gets rigid, you’ve likely gripped the “stricture.” → LoO 91.27–32
91.33–34 — The “unfed” conscious mind; images as boundaryless guidelines
Summary. Magician = conscious mind, but Ra asks the student to consider the unfed conscious mind: mind with no resource but consciousness—do not confuse with the complex mind shaped by repeated potentiation/catalyst/experience/transformation. These are all the components the student sees; each student may see nuance; images were offered without boundaries, as guidelines to aid the adept and establish the architecture of the deep/archetypical mind.
Commentary & Notes. “Unfed” is a powerful contemplative handle: awareness prior to story. Also: Ra refuses to fence the images—this is an invitation to disciplined creativity, not rote decoding. → LoO 91.33–34
91.35–37 — Acceleration: “new mind”; archetypes as undistorted blueprint (not foundation)
Summary. Example: the adept’s conscious mind may be “full to bursting,” blocking blue/indigo work; then the adept calls upon a new, virgin mind and dwells in the archetype of the unblemished mind—without bias, without polarity, full of the Logos’s magic. Don frames archetypes as foundations; Ra corrects: archetypes are not the foundation of evolution, but a tool for grasping evolution undistorted. “Efficient” is better replaced with “undistorted.” Penetrated lucidly, the archetypical mind is a blueprint of energy expenditures and seeking, without distortion—aid to the adept.
Commentary & Notes. This is the “why archetypes?” answer: not master-cause theory, but clarity. When your mind is saturated with content, archetypal contemplation can restore architecture—what matters, how it moves, where energy goes. → LoO 91.35–37
91.38 — Comfort: swirling waters, spine erect; gratitude as protection
Summary. The instrument has continuous surges of pain; Ra asks to leave while transferred energy remains. Suggestion: swirling of waters with spine erect. Ra praises diligence, harmony, thanksgiving; these are great protection; alignments excellent; closing blessing.
Commentary & Notes. The session ends where stable practice always ends: simple care + harmony. Protection is not drama; it’s fidelity to love, gratitude, and steadiness. → LoO 91.38
️ Practice Corner — Living Session 91
Three-minds sorting (4 minutes). Pick one repeating pattern this week. Label it: archetypal (deep pattern), planetary/cultural (shared bias), personal (your history)—or a blend. Notice what changes when you separate strands.
Release the prop (2 minutes). Catch a moment of rigid interpretation (“it must mean X”). Say: “I release the cup from its stricture.” Then ask: what principle is trying to be named?
Gentle re-entry (90 seconds). After intense focus (work, meditation, conflict), transition slowly: three deep breaths, feel feet, sip water, soften jaw/shoulders—ease the “elastic band” back to zero.
Extended Notes & Context
Session 91 quietly teaches how to do archetypal study: avoid literalism, avoid cultural clinging, and prioritize relational function. At the same time, it grounds metaphysics in body-reality: the “silver cord reflex” section makes the link between mind and vehicle feel less mystical and more like interface engineering—handled best with calm repetition and gentle transitions.

Study Prompts
Where do you confuse planetary/cultural bias for archetypal truth—and what changes when you separate them?
What “props” do you cling to in your own catalyst (labels, roles, stories)? What principle are they pointing toward?
If the conscious mind has “no inwardness” without potentiation, what (for you) most reliably potentiates—silence, prayer, beauty, dream, grief, love?
