🧭 Session Snapshot
Date: April 26, 1982
Big Themes:
A magical “crisis”: a 5D STS companion makes a concentrated attempt to depolarize the group; failure causes its depolarization (and thus urgency).
Names in magic: knowing an entity’s name can be used either for power-over or for heart-inclusion; both are viable, each polarizes differently.
Why a fully informed negative entity can still polarize: knowledge of the veil doesn’t undo the choice of separation.
“That which is not”: STS polarity built by omitting universal love; carried into 4D/5D as intensified orange/yellow and wisdom without compassion.
Transmission anomalies: language clumsiness + “sticky referents” (once a wrong term is used, it can repeat until corrected).
Balancing compassion and wisdom in healing work: the green-ray opens by many essays into compassion, not by a quick leap into “wisdom.”
Most effectual veiling is the veiling of the mind; key veiled functions that aid polarization: far-seeing, dreaming, lost knowledge/control of the body, and above all will/pure desire.
Closing: Ra communicates via violet-ray narrow-band; not “indwelling,” but the instrument’s complex rests with Ra during the working.
🌟 Key Takeaways
A crisis is underway—and it’s about polarity. Ra describes the 5D STS companion as unusually close to the group at this nexus, making a concentrated attempt to cause depolarization—because continuing failure depolarizes the attacker (85.3–85.4).
Names are not neutral in magical work. Knowing a name can support “power-over” (control) or “heart-inclusion” (compassionate acceptance). Both are “magically viable,” but they polarize you differently. The choice reveals your path (85.5–85.7).
Knowledge doesn’t dissolve the negative choice. Higher-density polarization proceeds with full knowledge of the veil; the veil is part of 3D training, but later work builds on the already-made orientation (85.9).
STS is framed as ‘omission of universal love.’ “That which is not” is constructed by denying the green-ray center; subsequent densities refine orange/yellow power and 5D wisdom without compassion—until darkness eventually calls light (85.11–85.13).
The most effectual veil is the mind veiling itself. Four veiled functions/potentials most aiding polarization: (1) far-seeing beyond linear time, (2) dreaming, (3) knowing/control of the body, and (4) the emergent faculty of will/pure desire (85.18–85.19).
Balancing compassion is not a single toggle. Ra suggests “many, many essays into compassion” before universal love is stable; only then may balancing with wisdom be relevant—and even then, it depends on what you are balancing (manifestations vs mind/spirit subtleties) (85.16).
🧩 Full Q&A with Commentary
85.0–85.2 — Opening, pain flare, and why Ra was brief
Summary. Ra prefaces the health check with an apology: pain flares narrowed the channel, so they spoke briefly until the instrument was safely transferred. Condition: physical deficit somewhat lessened; vigilance can relax slightly but watchfulness about helpful food remains; pain distortion is higher than normal at this nexus; vital energies as previously stated; group is commended.
Commentary. This is an “ethics of contact” moment: Ra explicitly favors instrument safety over long answers. For a serious seeker, it’s a reminder that spiritual work has a biological cost and that purity includes care.
85.3–85.4 — The magical crisis: why the STS companion is pressing hard
Summary. The STS companion is closer than ever; a crisis is occurring at the magical level. Crisis = a contest of relative polarity. The group, though neophytes in conscious magic, has used will/faith/calling-to-light without significant depolarization. The companion must depolarize the group quickly to avoid its own depolarization from “unsuccessful exploration of separation,” so efforts are pronounced now.
Commentary. Two key mechanics:
Depolarization risk is real for negative entities when their efforts fail.
The group’s strongest defense isn’t technique—it’s steady orientation: will + faith + calling to light.
Everyday translation. When pressure intensifies, it’s often because a pattern is failing. The “attack” can be read as a sign that steadfastness is working.
85.5–85.7 — Names in magic: power-over vs heart-inclusion
Summary. Don asks whether the entity has a name and whether it would be “magically bad” to know it. Ra: it would make a difference. Knowing a name can aid power over an entity; forgetting the naming supports collecting the entity into the heart of one’s being. Both are viable, and each is polarized in a specific way; it is the group’s choice.
Commentary. This is not “names are forbidden.” It’s: names are directional tools.
Practical discernment prompt. When you want a label (name, diagnosis, category), ask:
Am I seeking control (power-over)?
Or seeking integration/compassion (heart-inclusion)?
Neither is automatically “wrong,” but each trains a different polarity.
85.8 — The hand pressure during meditation
Summary. Don asks if the instrument should avoid meditating without hand pressure due to greeting. Ra confirms: the hand pressure helps prevent a potential separation of the instrument’s complex from the 3D experience.
Commentary. Even in mystical work, very small physical supports can stabilize the channel. It’s also a reminder that “spiritual protection” can be implemented through simple embodied means.
85.9–85.11 — Why a negative entity can remain polarized even knowing about the veil
Summary. Don wonders if intellectually accepting the veiling process would undermine negative polarization. Ra comments: in 4D polarization continues with full knowledge of the veil. The veil informs experience but does not alter the already-made choice. A transmission slip occurs: Ra says “service-to-others” when they mean “service-to-self,” later corrected.
Commentary. The crucial point: knowledge is not orientation.
Orientation = what you choose to value.
Knowledge = what you can explain.
Negative polarization can fully understand the mechanics yet still choose separation.
85.11–85.13 — “That which is not”: STS as omission of universal love
Summary. Ra expands: if you view the energy centers as a spectrum, the STS choice denies the center: universal love (green ray). Fourth density expresses love of self (orange/yellow fullest expression), used to potentiate communication and adepthood. Fifth density refines wisdom without compassion, seeing green ray as folly. “That which is not” is a self-imposed darkness; harmony becomes eternal disharmony. Yet it cannot endure throughout the octave; darkness eventually calls the light; that which is not calls that which is.
Commentary. This passage is both metaphysical and therapeutic:
It defines STS not as “evil,” but as a structured omission.
It also implies a destiny: separation eventually encounters its own limit.
Daily-life mirror. You can test an intention by asking: “What am I omitting?” If the omission is compassion, the intention trends toward “that which is not.”
85.12–85.15 — Correcting transmission anomalies (why wrong words repeat)
Summary. Don flags the “others/self” error. Ra explains: language is clumsy for them; once they have miscalled a referent, it can be reused for some time because the initial error wasn’t detected by them. Ra also notes they do not have use of all words in all languages.
Commentary. A practical reading principle:
Treat “slips” as channel turbulence, not theology.
Corrections inside the session are part of the method.
This is also a humility lesson: a high-density source still works through human language constraints.
85.16 — Jim’s question: compassion vs wisdom in healing work
Summary. Ra says the query borders on what they can answer due to free will. They suggest stringent honesty: analyze what you call compassion; it may take many essays into compassion before true universal love is stable. Each component can be balanced/accepted as transitional material as the seat of teach/learning moves into green ray. When universal love is achieved, balancing may or may not be wisdom. If balancing manifestations, it is appropriate to balance universal love and wisdom; if balancing mind/spirit, subtleties apply. Love and wisdom are faces of one coin; balancing isn’t always “from compassion to wisdom.” Remember the density you seek to move from: 3D learns love; Wanderers have overlays of other lessons.
Commentary. This is one of the clearest “anti-spiritual-bypass” answers:
You don’t “balance compassion with wisdom” by dampening compassion.
You often deepen compassion until it becomes universal—then discern how wisdom wants to express.
Practical self-check. If you feel “compassion fatigue,” it might not be “too much compassion,” but compassion mixed with rescuer identity, control, or unowned anger—components needing honesty.
85.17–85.19 — Which veiled mind functions most aided polarization?
Summary. Ra asks the question be repeated due to channel difficulty. Answer: the most effectual veiling was that of the mind. Significant veiled functions: (1) far-seeing/visioning—without the veil mind wasn’t caught in illusory time; with the veil, space/time seems the only reality; (2) dreaming—rich content aiding polarization when used; (3) knowing/control of the body—lost before, now significant because body seems separated from mind; (4) most significant product of veiling: will/pure desire. Ra requests brief queries due to pain flares.
Commentary. This is a master-key list:
Visioning: recovers a wider field than “what’s happening now.”
Dreaming: restores conversation with unconscious.
Body-knowing: integrates embodiment as spiritual information.
Will: turns seeking into a furnace.
If you want a “program,” it’s basically: dreams + vision + body listening + purified desire.
85.20 — Closing: how Ra communicates; comfort
Summary. Don asks if an individualized Ra entity inhabits the body. Ra: they communicate through narrow-band channel via violet-ray; they are not physically indwelling; rather the instrument’s complex rests with them. Alignments excellent; farewell in love/light.
Commentary. “Resting with” implies a deep kind of communion without possession. It also models respectful metaphysics: contact without invasion.
🛠️ Practice Corner — Living Session 85
Label audit (names as tools). When you want to name/label a difficult force (a person, “shadow,” fear), ask: “Am I naming to control or to include in the heart?” Choose consciously.
Omission test. Before a hard decision, ask: “What might I be omitting—especially compassion?” If compassion is missing, restore it (even minimally) before acting.
Fourfold polarization practice (7 days).
Night: record one dream fragment.
Day: one act of far-seeing (imagine the long arc of consequences).
Body: one minute of quiet body-scanning (what is the body ‘knowing’?).
Will: one sentence of purified desire: “I desire to serve by ____.”
Compassion honesty journal. Pick one moment you called “compassion.” List the components: care, fear, control, guilt, anger, pride. Accept what you find; refine.
📚 Extended Notes & Context
Polarity contests aren’t only ‘external.’ Even if you don’t accept “greeting” metaphysically, the psychological pattern is recognizable: when you’re steady in service, certain inner patterns intensify to regain control. Session 85 gives a clean mirror for that: pressure escalates when an old strategy is failing.
Power vs inclusion is a lifelong fork. Naming, diagnosing, categorizing: these can serve health and safety. But Session 85 invites you to notice when the hidden aim is dominion rather than understanding.
A workable definition of STS in one line. “That which is not” = life built on omission of universal love. This is more precise than moral language and easier to apply.
Dreams and will belong together. Dreams without will become entertainment; will without dreams becomes brittle. The session’s list implies a balanced “engine”: unconscious content + far-seeing + embodied knowing + purified desire.
🧠 Study Prompts
What is your default move under pressure: tighten control (power-over) or soften inclusion (heart)? Where do you see this in your week?
In which area of life do you most often omit compassion (toward self or other-self), and what small restoration would be honest?
Which of the four veiled functions (visioning, dreaming, body-knowing, will) is weakest for you right now—and what one habit would strengthen it?
Note: This material reflects Ra’s metaphysical perspective and is offered for study—not as dogma. Use your discernment.
